Fundação Getulio Vargas Sao Paulo Law School’s Research Centre for Competition, Public Policy, Innovation and Technology (Comppit), together with the Brazilian Institute for Studies on Competition, Consumption and International Trade (IBRAC) and the Queen Mary Global Policy Institute are holding an in person event in São Paulo, Brazil, to discuss the new Digital Markets Act (DMA) regulation created by the European Union to regulate digital platforms and promote competition in digital markets.

As authorities are discussing the implementation of the DMA in the European context, similar initiatives for ex-ante regulation of digital platforms are being discussed at the national level in many countries, including European Union countries and the UK.

This event aims to explain the main features of the DMA and the implementation challenges faced at the current stage of regulation. For this, it will count on the participation of Ioannis Kokkoris, Professor of Competition Law and Economics at the Queen Mary University of London. The moderator will be Professor Caio Mario da Silva Pereira Neto, from FGV Sao Paulo Law School, and the debaters are Silvia Fagá, economic consultant at LCA, and Cristianne Zarzur, lawyer at Pinheiro Neto Advogados.
