School of Geography

Tasnim Khatun Rahman

Tasnim is a second year student studying BSc Geography.

What advice would you give to new students thinking about studying with us?

If you are thinking about joining the school of Geography, then make your personal statement stand out by mentioning extracurricular activities that you have participated in related to Geography. This could be fieldwork you have taken part in during 6th form and optional lectures you have been to.

Why did you choose to study at QMUL?

I decided to study at QMUL because I liked the university campus; when I visited and the staff I met during the open day was friendly and easy to talk to. Also, after the interview, I was offered an unconditional offer, so this attracted me to the university even more.

What attracted you to your programme?

I study Geography Bsc, so the course is heavily related to physical geography and the modules available to take during the second and third year are interesting. Such as the Past environmental change and Environmental research modules.

What do you enjoy the most about your course/QMUL?

I enjoy the fieldwork opportunities that occur within my course.

How do you think studying your degree is helping you to reach your future career goals?

Studying Geography BSc has improved my essay writing skills and my lab report skills. This will help me get a job in the future.

How do you like to spend your time away from your studies?

I like to spend my time outside of studying, primarily relaxing. This is in the forms of watching Tv shows, reading novels, taking around 10k steps a day, buying and looking after plants, shopping, having boba or frappucinos and talking to my local stray cat.

What you would like to do after you finish your studies?

I am probably going to do a masters degree in GIS.

Do you have any advice for students moving to/ studying in London?

I would advice students that are moving to London/ studying in London to explore the area and do fun stuff on the weekends.
