Neurogastroenterology disorders are the most likely reason for patients to present to GI outpatient clinics. Despite advances in neurogastroenterology and motility in the last decade there is negligible training in physiological investigation of and evidence-based management of these disorders. This 2 day course delivered by an international panel of experts is aimed at doctors , dieticians and nurses. It will use a problem- based approach to cover the basic pathophysiology and evidence-based treatment of the functional gastrointestinal disorders (FGIDs). More topical concepts including the role of diet, microbiota, enteroendocrine cells and the use of neuromodulators will also be explored. This training will be complemented by skills stations covering the indications, techniques and interpretation of upper and lower GI physiology testing, as well as techniques for communicating difficult concepts with patients. Delegates will also be invited to share difficult cases for MDT discussion with an expert panel.
