The UK branch of the prestigious Association for the German Language / Gesellschaft für deutsche Sprache [GfdS] is housed at Queen Mary's Centre for Anglo-German Cultural Relations (CAGCR) and was inaugurated in 2010 by Principal Prof. Simon Gaskel in the presence of the German Ambassador Georg Boomgaarden. The GfdS organises and pays for up to 2 public lectures per year which are free, open to the public, and in German.
