Research Matters: changing lives in East London and beyond

Organised by Barts Health in association with Queen Mary and Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry

On Wednesday 24 May this year, Barts Health NHS Trust and Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) and Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry will be hosting Research Matters event as part of the annual celebration of International Clinical Trials Day. This programme will feature talks from award-winning academics and clinicians, patients and others, to showcase the high quality clinical research taking place within Barts Health hospitals.

Opening and closing address - Alwen Williams, Chief Executive, Barts Health NHS Trust

Public involvement in women’s health research - Katie’s Team, Jahnavi Daru, Clinical Research Fellow, Women’s Health Research Unit, QMUL

Research and clinical trials in Clinical Support Services: Clinical radiology, pathology, clinical physics and therapies- Anju Sahdev, CAG Director for Research and Education, Clinical Support Services, Barts Health NHS Trust

PPI and MS Research: Innovations for service development- Alison Thomson, Lecturer in Public Engagement and Patient Public Involvement, QMUL

A glimpse at the future - life sciences at Barts Health - Rakesh Uppal, Director of Life Sciences, Barts Health NHS Trust

Improving outcomes in trauma haemorrhage - Professor Karim Brohi, Professor of Trauma Services, QMUL, and Consultant Trauma and Vascular Surgeon, Barts Health NHS Trust

 

There will be a drinks reception following the presentations (6.30-7.30pm) .
