The Centre for the Study of Global Security and Development welcomes Professor Thandika Mkandawire with his lecture entitled 'Africa's Recovery and Beyond'.
Professor Makandawire is Professor of African Development at the London School of Economics. He was previously Director of the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development and Director of the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa.
Professor Mkandawire has published extensively on the problems of and prospects for development in Africa, including recently on issues such as agricultural development, tax collection, welfare policy, poverty reduction and democracy. In this lecture he will examine the causes and consequences of Africa's economic revival.
