New Skills for a New Job

18 October 2012

Time: 4:00pm
Venue: Bancroft Building, Queen Mary University, Mile End Road, London, E1 4NS

Join local MP Rushanara Ali and Labour councillors for an afternoon of workshops for young people delivered by local employment experts designed to help boost confidence and employability.
The free afternoon of workshops will focus on how to improve the soft skills necessary for young people to land a job in today’s competitive jobs market.
After the workshops the Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls MP will give a speech setting out his view about what the Government should be doing to overcome the challenge of youth unemployment and why Labour will be leading the fight for youth jobs.
The short informal workshops will cover topics including:
-          Interview techniques
-          Confident public speaking
-          Job hunting and applications
-          Relationship building
With hundreds of young people in Tower Hamlets struggling to find work, Labour councillors and Rushanara Ali MP have teamed up to help local people develop their skills and meet their potential.
Join us for this free event at Queen Mary University. The event is open to all young Tower Hamlets residents, but particularly those currently out of work.
