School of Geography International Distinguished Visitor Lecture - Professor Johannes Oerlemans

Professor Johannes Oerlemans, Professor of Meteorology at Utrecht University, Academy Professor at the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences, and recipient of the Louis Agassiz Medal 2008 will be hosted by the School of Geography as the 2011 International Distinguished Visitor from 1-7 May, and will deliver a public lecture titled "Worldwide Glacier Changes" on May 5, 2011 at 6:30pm in the Drapers Lecture Theatre.

Professor Oerlemans is recognised as the foremost expert on the role of ice sheets in global climate and sea-level change, and was lead author on the first three IPCC Assessment Reports (1990, 1996 and 2001) and major contributor to the Arctic Climate Impact Assessment 2005.
