National Salt Awareness Week

21 March 2011 - 27 March 2011

Time: 9:00am - 5:00pm

Are you aware that too much salt can damage your health?

This year's National Salt Awareness Week, organised by the charity Consensus Action on Salt and Health (CASH), will raise awareness about the health risks of a high salt diet, particularly amongst men who have a higher risk than women of suffering or dying from preventable diseases such as cardiovascular disease before the age of 65.

Reducing men’s average salt intake will reduce incidences of cardiovascular disease which will save thousands of lives every year.

The week will encourage everyone, especially men, to think about how much salt they are eating, to check labels when shopping and to make more of their own food at home while also encouraging the food industry to reduce the salt that they add to processed foods.

Further information including leaflets and posters relating to the event are available from the CASH website (www.actiononsalt.org.uk).
