Professor Goodhart obtained his PhD from Harvard in 1963 and is now Emeritus Professor at the London School of Economics. Before joining LSE, he worked at the Bank of England for seventeen years, becoming Chief Advisor in 1980. In 1997 he was appointed as one of the independent members of the Bank of England’s new Monetary Policy Committee until May 2000.
