Research

Publications

  • O'Connell, R and Brannen, J (2021) Families and Food in Hard Times: European comparative research.
  • O'Connell, R, Brannen J and Knight,  (2019). Living Hand to Mouth: children and food in low income families.

Expertise

My research examines the social, cultural and economic determinants shaping what children and families eat, and the part food plays in their everyday lives. I have particular interest in food inequalities and the right to food and in understanding and informing policies and practices that impact the diets and lives of children, families and communities who are marginalised.
