Profile

I am an assistant professor at Maastricht University. She received my law degree at the University of Vienna and my LL.M. in Forensics, Criminology and Law at Maastricht University. In 2019, I defended my dissertation titled "The Transnational Illegal Adoption Market: A Criminological Study of the German and Dutch Intercountry Adoption System" cum laude. My research interests lie transnational organized crime, illegal markets, and crimes against children. Her main focus is on child trafficking for adoption purposes, particularly on the question as to how illegal intercountry adoptions are organized and facilitated and which measures can be taken to respond to the harm inflicted upon the victims. I conduct comparative and interdisciplinary research, combining normative legal analysis with empirical legal research and cultural studies.
