Dr Anne Levesque

Anne Levesque is an assistant professor in the French Common Law Program at the Faculty of Law at the University of Ottawa. She obtained her Master’s in International Human Rights from Oxford University where she studied with a full scholarship from the Baxter & Alma Ricard Foundation. Anne was admitted to the bar in Ontario in 2008 and practised human rights law in private practice and also in a community legal clinic. She appeared before several administrative tribunals, Canadian courts of all levels, including the Supreme Court of Canada, and regional and international human rights bodies. She is one of the lawyers who represented the First Nations Child and Family Caring Society in its human rights case leading to a historic victory in 2016 which affirmed the right to equality for more than 165 000 First Nations children in Canada. Her research and publications focus on human rights and public interest litigation.
