Profile
Rickard Jonsson is a Professor of Child and Youth Studies at Stockholm University. Drawing on linguistic anthropology, Judith Butler's work on performativity, and narrative and discourse analysis, he investigates the construction of masculinity, sexuality, ethnicity, whiteness, and anti-racism in institutional settings and everyday interactions. His work also explores young people's language use, narratives of boys' failure and underachievement in school, and, more recently, humour and laughter as lenses through which to examine norms and power relations among young people.
