Profile

I have a background of 20 years of social work practice experience, including Social Worker in Schools, youth justice and care and protection, in both the non-government (NGO) sector and in the government sector. I have had first-hand experience of seeing lives change through social work interventions. Being a qualified and registered social worker and member of the Aotearoa New Zealand Association of Social Workers, I am passionate about advocating for children and young people, to ensure that they receive the most exemplary and most appropriate care, resourcing, life chances (educational, vocational, recreational, health outcomes) and support (legal, financial, therapeutic) as possible. My specific area of interest include; foster care and permanency, care and protection, social work supervision, youth care and the process of transition to independent living for young people leaving foster care systems.
