Profile

I am Associate Professor of Psychology with Education at the University of Leeds and Fellow of the British Psychological Society. I initially trained and worked as a secondary school teacher but returned to higher education to pursue a career in teaching and research. I have since worked closely with autistic children, their families and schools on research projects aimed at understanding and improving their educational experiences. This has included research on mental health, bullying, friendship, interventions, the primary-secondary transition, and most recently focusing on the educational experiences of autistic girls. I am especially interested in the importance of schools (and society more broadly) in generating an inclusive environment in which autistic young people can achieve their potential.
