The Athena Swan Charter, founded in 2005, is a worldwide framework that promotes gender equality in higher education and research. Initially aimed at advancing women's careers in the STEMM fields, the Charter has since expanded to address gender equality more broadly.

The Athena Swan Panel commended the School on our dedication to gender equality, particularly the efforts in reducing the undergraduate Male BAME awarding gap and increasing women and BAME staff at Grade 8.

Our Flying Start programme, which addresses underrepresentation of women in accountancy and finance, was spotlighted as a model of good practice. This includes partnerships with schools, student bursaries, paid placements, and job fast-tracking upon degree completion.

Thank you to our community for helping us foster a diverse, inclusive, and equal environment. Here's to continuous progress!
