BioAnna Linda Musacchio Adorisio is a research fellow at the Gothenburg Research Institute, University of Gothenburg, Sweden, in a research program called “Bank Management” and Honorary Professorial Fellow at Queen Mary University of London. She holds a PhD in Communication Studies from the University of Lugano, Switzerland. She has conducted research in the banking realm across different countries using a narrative and language perspective.
Seminar titleThe Language of Banking: theorizing narrative for interpretive research
AbstractThe seminar revolves around the role and use of language in the banking realm and for management researchers. There is a widespread consensus on the fact that "language matters" and research in the social sciences has shown the potential of language and its constitutive role in the construction of social realities. But what does it mean to embrace the linguistic turn in management research? What are the functions that language performs in the banking world? In the seminar narratives will be explored as a way of knowing, as social practices and as forms of communication.
