Print, copy and scan

There are printers located across all campuses for use by students, with all devices offering both copying and scanning facilities alongside printing.

If you print a document, you have 24 hours to collect it at any printer. You choose the printer, swipe your student ID card at the terminal, and release the jobs you’d like to print from your personal queue.

The cost of printing and photocopying is automatically charged to your MyPrint account, which is linked to your student ID card. Scanning on devices is free and will be linked to your QM email address.

For large print runs, binding and finishing, and professional print jobs, the CopyShop at our Mile End campus offers a range of fast and student-friendly solutions.

Wireless Printing

Send your documents to a QMUL printer from your laptop, smartphone, or tablet (anywhere with QM Eduroam Wi-Fi connection) and pick them up within 24 hours. To access the service, go to: https://myprint.qmul.ac.uk/user and sign in with your QMUL username and password. You will then be able to upload the documents you want to print by clicking on Web Print.

Please visit our support pages if you would like more information on using this service.

Topping Up Print Credits (QM MyPrint)

The cost of printing and photocopying is done by clicks (1 click = 1 side of paper).  Please find below a breakdown of the print and copy charges. You can also pay any library fines using your MyPrint account once your library barcode has been registered with Library Services.

Any unused credit, with a minimum of £10, can be reimbursed upon completion of your studies. Some schools will provide their students with a free printing allowance.  This will appear as ‘Tuition Fees’ on your account and is non-refundable and can’t be used to pay any outstanding library fines.

The cost of printing is per side of paper, not per sheet.

QMUL prides itself as being one of the most cost-effective suppliers of print to its students and the Central Print Service monitors its costs yearly. For any queries regarding printing issues, payment issues or refunds please contact the IT Service Desk.

Tips For Using the Printers

  • Forgot your ID card: Print jobs can be released by entering your QMUL username and password at the device using the keypad.
  • Problem with the printer: If there is a problem with the photocopiers in any of the libraries (paper jam, no paper etc.) please report it to the Library Help Point/Welcome Desk. We aim to fix all faults within 24 hours. Please note that if there is a fault with the printer, your document will be stored on our print server. This means that you can go to the closest printer available and continue printing. Your account should not be charged but if this happens, please contact the IT Service Desk on 020 7882 8888.
  • Change to single-sided printing: To reduce paper usage and help the environment, the printers are automatically set to print double-sided. If you need to print single-sided, you can do so by changing the standard settings.
  • Black and white / colour printing: Our colour printers are intelligent enough that they will charge for the pages of a document which are completely black and white at the black and white rate and any pages in colour at the colour rate – you don’t get charged for all the pages at the colour print rate.
