Ebola virus in the US: How did the disease ever spread this far?

In an article for The Independent, Dr Sophie Harman  explains how the ebola crisis exposes “the great fallacy of the West’s global development agenda”. As the US Centre for Disease Control reassures the public that they have the situation under control, Dr Harman notes: “While the international health and development community in which USAID has played a leading role obsesses about technocratic development goals, targets, and indicators; the basic building blocks of health provision in poor countries have been desperately neglected.”
