The PCTU is at the forefront of the science and execution of pragmatic clinical trials testing interventions within existing clinical settings. We also aim to improve the understanding of pragmatic trials by providing resources to support this.
The PCTU is actively engaged in a wide variety of trials, systematic reviews and observational studies at different stages of their development.
The PCTU is a thriving and dynamic clinical trials unit supporting high quality research across many different clinical areas with particular strengths in primary care, psychiatry, women’s health, colorectal surgery and critical care and perioperative medicine.
The unit also carries out methodological research related to trials, and has an international reputation for its work on cluster-randomised trials and trials of complex interventions.
