The Study Abroad welcome orientation has been organised to introduce you to living and studying in the UK and, specifically, at Queen Mary, University of London. It is a requirement that all new Study Abroad students attend. We will run workshops and presentations with lots of useful information - from registering for modules, getting around London to where to buy food, keeping fit and health & safety.
The orientation takes place Friday January 4th 2013, and there will also be special social events taking place including a boat trip on the River Thames and a London Panoramic bus tour. This is a great chance to meet other new students before you start your studies. The International Student Boat Party will take place on Monday January 7th (meeting from 6.00pm) and the London Panoramic Bus Tours will take place Sunday 6th January (10.45am).
There will be a free bus service for new study abroad students arriving at Heathrow Airport on Thursday 3rd January 2013. Registration for the free airport collection service is now open, please visit: Book the Heathrow Airport Shuttle *Please note when booking you must specify your airline name, flight number, arrival time and the number of the terminal of where you will arrive at London Heathrow.
We regret we cannot arrange airport collection on any other days, or from any alternative airports. For advice regarding travel to the College outside of these times, or from other airports, please see How To Find Us.
Important information
The buses will depart from Terminal 3, at London’s Heathrow Airport, to Queen Mary, Mile End campus. We expect that buses will leave Terminal 3 every two hours. Upon arrival you will be allocated to the next available bus.
This service is free of charge to all new Queen Mary students. If you do not book a place there may not be any space left on the bus for you. On-line booking will close on December 14th 2012, we regret we cannot guarantee space after this date as we need to book the coaches in advance.
Family and friends
The airport collection service is for Queen Mary students only. If you are travelling with family members or friends they are welcome to travel on the coach only if there are spaces available. Priority will always be given to students. If a coach is full, Queen Mary staff will assist in directing your family or friends to the College using an alternative form of transport.

Monday 7th January sees the official celebration of the arrival of the new study abroad students at Queen Mary, University of London.
