June 2020 COVID-19 Update

As we move into our fourth month of the Pandemic, the Events industry is talking daily about what this has meant for our industry and what it could mean as we look towards the future. The one factor that remains certain is that we must remain flexible in this situation as it progresses.

Where are we now?

We are spending much of our time reviewing how our capacities may be reduced to comply with the social distancing guidelines, how the guest catering experience may differ if we can’t have central serving points and sharing tables and more importantly, can the guests and delegates even attend if quarantine measures are in place for international visitors? Rigorous risk assessments are being conducted as we plan how your event might look and how we adapt to a new way of operating. Rest assured that we are monitoring the situation daily to ensure that we can deliver an optimal service adhering to the guidance, whenever your event may be.

What have we been doing?

The team at Queen Mary Venues are continuing to support some of the NHS key workers of east London by providing essential accommodation on our Mile End campus.  Since the start of the Pandemic we have processed over 6000 room nights and we couldn’t be prouder to have been able to offer our support In this way to our National Health Service.  As an events team with a collective experience over 50 years we are desperate to get back to what we love best and to deliver events at Queen Mary University of London.

The future

As we look towards the future our focus is now on the return to campus in September, the start of our academic year. We are considering how our events will be delivered from September onwards and our diary remains open to discuss new enquiries from this date. We are monitoring advice from the government in line with social distancing measures and safety guidelines to protect our staff, our students and our visitors to campus.

Keeping in touch

If you haven’t heard from us already, our team will be contacting you to discuss your event if it falls between September – December 2020 to keep you updated.

Remaining flexible

And lastly, we still remain committed to ensuring our customers experience flexibility during these challenging times, so we continue to extend our cancellation policy.

If you place a new piece of business with us for September – December 2020 and you need to cancel* as a direct result of COVID-19, then we are prepared to offer you one of two options:

  1. Postpone your planned event to another date within a six month timeframe, re-allocating all deposits paid to the new date.
  2. Cancel the event with a full return of deposit payments.
