Profile

I am a PhD researcher, funded by the ESRC LISS DTP. I come from the Black Country, an urban and industrialised region in the West Midlands of England, and the unique Black Country dialect is the subject of my research. In partnership with the community radio station Black Country Radio, my project focuses on understanding more about bidialectalism, specifically how children learn to speak two dialects at once. My research aims to track children’s developing competence in both understanding and producing each dialect.
