Mexico is a well-known tourist destination, offering the fabulous beach destinations of Acapulco and Cancun. According to the Lonely Planet, “Mexico is packed with history and culture” including 26 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, such as the remains of the Mayan and Aztec civilisations, and the floating gardens of Xochimilco in Mexico City.

The level of competitiveness (Less competitive * / Competitive ** / Very competitive ***) refers to one's chances of being allocated an exchange space at this partner. This is an approximation determined by the number of applications received for this destination during the last academic year versus the total number of exchange spaces available to Queen Mary students.
Both sets of dates above include mandatory Arrival and Orientation days. Each semester has 12 weeks of classes and the majority of classes have three to four contact hours per week per unit. These are followed by a three week exam period.

Important for Comparative Literature students: very limited availability of literary modules, so not an option for single honours students studying Comparative Literature. Joint honours students studying degree programmes including Comparative Literature need to ensure options exist that fulfil Queen Mary course requirements.
The number of credits that any course at Tec de Monterrey is worth is determined by the number of class hours and self-study time that a student must spend weekly in the subject. Class size averages 30 students. Queen Mary students studying on exchange at Tec de Monterrey must follow 18 TEC credits per semester (equivalent to 60 Queen Mary credits).

Any nominated student participating in an international programme at Tec de Monterrey is required to obtain the SURA health insurance recommended by Tec de Monterrey. The insurance must be bought before arriving in Mexico.
The immigration process is determined by the nationality of the student.
Everyone coming to Mexico for more than 180 days (full-year exchanges or longer), is required to have a visa.
