She has led numerous randomised control trials, nationals epidemiological studies and systematic reviews in the field of acquired bleeding disorders.

The Kenneth Goldsmith Award is for a UK-based individual and is given to recognise outstanding work and/or original research within the field of blood transfusion practice together with contributions to blood transfusion in general, either in the medical or scientific fields.

This award provides an opportunity for the British Blood Transfusion Society to recognise a member who lives in the UK, has an excellent reputation in the field of blood transfusion or a related area and has made a significant difference to the understanding of blood transfusion for others.

Commenting on her nomination, Dr Green said: "I would like to express my sincere thanks to the British Blood Transfusion Society who have selected me to receive this prestigious award, as well as to my colleagues and friends at NHS Blood and Transplant, Barts Health Trust, and Queen Mary University of London for their support throughout.

"I am delighted and honoured for this recognition and would like to acknowledge, not only the achievements of the research teams, but also the incredible generosity of our blood donors and dedication of blood production and hospital transfusion staff, all of which underpin the contributions we have been able to make to transfusion research and practices in the UK and beyond."

The award will be presented at the BBTS Annual Conference on Wednesday 18 September.
