Open Day attracts record number of visitors

Queen Mary’s most recent undergraduate Open Day in June 2014 saw record numbers of prospective students visit our Mile End and Whitechapel campuses. Along with family and friends, more than 9,000 people attended over the two day event – an increase of more than a third compared to last year.

James Ringer, UK Student Recruitment Manager, organises the bi-annual event. He explains what makes it such a success. "There are more than a hundred people who have a hand in making the Open Day run smoothly, from The Principal and academic staff to our team of student ambassadors. Their involvement means potential students can get a real flavour of life here at Queen Mary – from the highest quality teaching and academic research to the sense of community on campus.

"The programme for the day includes a range of academic Welcome Rooms which get better and better each year, with a huge variety of practical demos, tours and staff and students on hand to answer questions.

"This was the first year we opened the event up to people on a Friday, which we hope will give even more people a chance to come and see some of the great opportunities available at QMUL."
