Home/EU tuition fees for 2017-18

Important message to EU students

On October 11th 2016 Jo Johnson, Minister for Universities and Science, announced that EU students who enrol at a UK University in September 2017 will have access to loan support for the duration of their studies.  It has also been confirmed that tuition fee levels for EU students who enter UK Higher Education in September 2017 will remain at the same level of that of UK students for the duration of their studies.

In September 2017 tuition fees for UK and EU students who enrol at Queen Mary University of London will be £9,250, subject to confirmation by the Government.

We hope this provides assurance to you about funding your studies at QMUL from September 2017. If you have any further questions please contact EUStudents@qmul.ac.uk where help will be on hand. We look forward to seeing you as you start your studies with us in September 2017.

Undergraduate degree programmes

  • £9,250 if you are a new student starting your course in 2017-18.
  • £9,000 if you are a continuing student and started your course in 2012-13 or thereafter.

Tuition fees for UK and EU undergraduate students enrolled at QMUL in 2017 will be set in accordance with the levels permitted by the UK Government.  At the time of writing, it is anticipated that the fees for new students for the 2017-18 academic year will be £9,250, subject to government approval. Tuition fees are likely to increase each subsequent year from 2017 and these increases will be in line with UK Government policy.

Students from the Channel Islands and Isle of Man are charged the Home/EU rate of £9,250 for all programmes except for the clinical years of the MBBS and BDS programmes, when a higher rate is charged. For more information, refer to the full schedule of undergraduate tuition fees:

These extra costs cannot be covered by a tuition fee grant or loan from the Student Loans Company. For more information on these extra costs, please contact the relevant department/school.

Student loans

Tuition fees may seem daunting, but remember that you do not have to pay anything up front if you take out a student loan through the Student Loans Company. A range of Government maintenance loans and grants is also available. The arrangements for repaying your tuition fee and maintenance loans have been designed to make higher education as affordable as possible. You will not have to start repaying your loans until the April after you graduate and are earning at least £21,000 a year. Income-related repayments will be deducted automatically from your earnings through the tax system. Further details can be found at www.gov.uk/studentfinance. We also have a set of FAQs if you are considering studying at Queen Mary.

Bursaries and scholarships for Home/EU students

We have put into place a significant package of bursaries and scholarships to ensure access for all and reward excellence.
