Undergraduate scholarships and bursaries for Home/EU students

Information for international students can be found on the international students scholarship pages.

There are a number of sources of funding available for Home/EU undergraduate students. These include a significant package of competitive Queen Mary bursaries and scholarships in a range of subject areas, as well as external sources of funding.

School of Politics and International Relations

There are no Home/EU undergraduate scholarships available in the School of Politics and International Relations for 2017-18 entry.

Bursary / scholarshipValueEligibility

Queen Mary University of London Bursary 2017/18

  • £1,571 per year if your household income is £25,000 or less
  • £1,256 per year if your household income is between £25,000 and £42,600
  • You will be automatically assessed for this bursary using the information you provide to Student Finance England (or equivalent)

Queen Mary and Westfield Alumni Bursary 2017/18

  • £1,250 per year for three years
  • For 2017/18 entry students, six bursaries are available
  • You must have enrolled in September 2017 and be in the first year of your course in either the Faculty of Science and Engineering or the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences
  • You must be a permanent resident in the City of London, the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, the London Borough of Newham or the London Borough of Hackney and have lived there for at least three years
  • You must have been assessed by Student Finance as having a residual household income of £42,600 a year or less.
  • You will have to make an application to be considered for one of the Queen Mary and Westfield Alumni Bursaries and these will be available after September 2017 enrolment

Aldgate and Allhallows Foundation Scholarship 2017/18

 

  • £1,250 per year for three years
  • For 2017/18 entry students, ten scholarships will be available, subject to confirmation
  • You must have enrolled in September 2017 and be in the first year of your course
  • You must be under 25 years old at the start of the course
  • You must be  a permanent resident in the City of London or London Borough of Tower Hamlets and have lived there for at least three years
  • You must be assessed by Student Finance England as having a household income of £42,600 or less
  • You will have to make an application to be considered for one of the Aldgate and Allhallows Foundation Scholarships and these will be available after September 2017 enrolment

Sally Sainsbury History Scholarship 2017/18

 

  • £1,250 per year for three years
  • For 2017/18 entry students four scholarships will be available
  • You must have enrolled in September 2017 and be in the first year of your course in the School of History
  • You must be  a permanent resident in the City of London, London Borough of Tower Hamlets, the London Borough of Newham or the London Borough of Hackney and have lived there for at least three years
  • You must be assessed by Student Finance England as having a household income of £42,600 or less
  • You will have to make an application to be considered for one of the Sally Sainsbury History Scholarships and application forms will be available after September 2017 enrolment
Unite Foundation Scholarship 2017/18
  • You must have applied to start your first full-time undergraduate degree in September 2017 or be studying at QMUL on your first full-time undergraduate course
  • You must be either a Care Leaver or estranged from your parent(s)
  • You must have given Student Finance England consent to share your financial information with Queen Mary

The Jennian Geddes Scholarship 2017/18
  • £1,000 per year for three years
  • For 2017 -18 entry students, one scholarship will be available
  • You must have enrolled in September 2017 and be in the first year of your course
  • You must be a permanent resident in the City of London, the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, the London Borough of Newham or the London Borough of Hackney and have lived there for at least three years
  • You must be assessed by Student Finance England as having a household income of £42,600 or less
  • You will have to make an application to be considered for the Jennian Geddes Scholarship and application forms will be available after September 2017 enrolment

Derek Shuttleworth Educational Trust Scholarship 2017/18

  • £1,000 per year for three years
  • For 2017 -18 entry students, one scholarship will be available, subject to confirmation
  • You must have enrolled in September 2017 and be in the first year of your course
  • You must be a permanent resident in the London Borough of Hackney and have lived there for at least three years
  • You must be assessed by Student Finance England as having a household income of £42,600 or less
  • You will have to make an application to be considered for the Derek Shuttleworth Scholarship and application forms will be available after September 2017 enrolment

 

Funding for Asylum Seekers

  • £7,097 living cost grant per year for those living in a parental home

  • £11,002 living cost grant for those living independently
  • Full fee waiver
  • For 2017/18 2 awards will be available
  • You must be an asylum seeker, the child of an asylum seeker or hold Discretionary Leave to Remain
  • You must be ineligible to obtain funding from the Student Loan Company
  • You must have firmly accepted a place on an undergraduate course in the Faculty of Science & Engineering or the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences
  • You must not already hold an equivalent or higher qualification
  • Submit a complete application form with all relevant documentation by the deadline – 30 June 2017
Asylum Seekers Fee Concession
  • Reduction in fees payable
  • Asylum seekers or children of asylum seekers who meet the academic programme requirements will be eligible to pay the 'home rate' of tuition fee while their asylum application is under consideration by the Home Office
