External Support

Here are links to external local/national businesses and charitable organisations which can help students to save money during their time at university:

London Borough of Tower Hamlets

  • Register with a local library for access to free resources, services, and workshops for residents.
  • Tower Hamlets Connect provides residents with information and advice on health and social care, local (free) events and activities and community services across the borough.
  • Visit the Tower Hamlets Cost of Living website for support and information for local residents.
  • Tower Hamlets Idea Stores provide free access to computers, printing, scanning and books.
  • Tower Hamlets Food Store Project [PDF 1,227KB] is a place you can go every week to pick up large quantities of food for a small amount of money. Welfare Advisers in the Advice and Counselling Service can refer students, who are Tower Hamlets residents, to the Food Store.
  • Working whilst studying can be a good way to earn some additional money, gain new skills and meet new people. Q-Temps provides access to quality vacancies across Queen Mary and with businesses in the surrounding area.
  • Eventbrite brings together activities and events happening in the coming months in the borough, where many can be booked free of charge.
