About the role

The School Operations Officer will be responsible for managing all aspects of Human Resources in the School including recruitment, induction, academic probation, promotion and exit, and will act as a main point of contact for the HR Department.

 

The post-holder will support the Head of School, the School Manager and other members of the School’s Senior Management Team in the implementation of strategic initiatives and the efficient operation of the School. This includes line management responsibility for the Executive Assistant and Office Administrator.

 

About you

The successful candidate will need to present previous experience of working within an admin context supporting recruitment, retention, development, or reward of staff, ideally within in a higher education environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a proven ability to prioritize your workload and to work independently is essential.

 

About the School

The School of Engineering and Materials Science is a large School with approximately 100 academic staff and 45 postdoctoral research staff. There are around 1800 undergraduate and taught postgraduate students and 220 PhD students. Circa 45 administrative and technical staff support the staff and students. The staff and student body are international in make-up.

 

The School of Engineering & Materials Science holds a Bronze Athena SWAN Charter for Women in Science and is a registered member of WISE.
