The history of the Policy Associate programme

The Global Policy Institute first opened its doors to the first cohort of Policy Associates in 2021. Students worked with academics and professional services staff to support the work of the Institute to take Queen Mary’s world-class research and translate this into positive policy changes on global issues such as:

  • Rights, inclusion and diversity.
  • Resilience and sustainability.
  • Healthcare, recovery and reform.

This year is the first year in which the Policy Associate programme will be shared with the Mile End Institute – who will bring their own expertise of bringing together politicians, policymakers, academics and the public to debate the major challenges facing East London and the entire country.

Who should apply?

We are looking for up to seven Policy Associates (four based with the Global Policy Institute and three based with the Mile End Institute) to join our teams this winter.

We welcome applications from Queen Mary students from all degree levels – undergraduate, masters and PhD.
