Professor Stavros Brekoulakis awarded best lecture at GAR 2020

The GAR Awards are the most high-profile annual events in the field of International Arbitration

Stavros Brekoulakis, Professor of International Arbitration and Director of the School of International Arbitration at Queen Mary University of London, won best lecture or speech at the Global Arbitration Review (GAR) Awards 2020. GAR is the leading resource on international arbitration news and community intelligence. The award ceremony was held virtually on 9 July 2020 and is one of the most high-profile annual events in the field.

Professor Brekoulakis won the award for the 2019 Roebuck Lecture on “The Unwavering Policy Favouring Arbitration under English Law”, which he delivered on 13 June 2019 for the CIArb. In his speech he reviewed the development of arbitration practice in England over the last several centuries giving context to current debates on the legitimacy of arbitration and offering insight into the future of the practice, post-Brexit and beyond.
