Seminar title

Market policy and network interaction: A case from the Norwegian seafood industry.

Abstract

What effect does market policy have on interaction in business networks? We will discuss this question by looking into a particular feature of the Norwegian seafood industry. Here the Norwegian seafood exporters needs to handle different organisation forms: On the supply-side they face an auction system characterised by market exchange mechanisms and short term transactions, whereas their customers favour long-term and complex relationships, resembling network structures. The case will be analysed using perspectives from market and network theory, with a particular focus on the role of resources.
