What influenced your decision to choose a LLM at Queen Mary?

I am a lawyer qualified to practice in India. I have a strong interest in criminal law and I am preparing for my exams to qualify as a solicitor in England and Wales. I chose to study at QMUL as the University is known for its Criminal Justice course and for its academic excellence.

How did you find the teaching and learning?

As this year has been through a pandemic, we’ve had to experience a blend of both virtual and on campus classes. The experience studying at QMUL was nevertheless enthralling as it was a great privilege to be taught by professors who have authored renowned criminal justice textbooks.

Moreover, there were lawyers from different jurisdictions who were invited to share their experiences and talk about criminal practices in their own countries. I have also had the opportunity to network with lawyers and barristers across the globe.

What was key about your programme/ were there any highlights?

Personally, the whole experience of London life along with studying at QMUL has been a memorable experience. LLM certainly is beneficial to lawyers due to its two-fold benefits of accessing knowledge as well as networking with fellow lawyers.

What piece of insight or advice would you offer for future students?

The Criminal Justice LLM is certainly an added value for students as it provides an exposure to additional professional opportunities in many countries. I certainly recommend QMUL to everyone planning on pursuing a masters in law as it is indeed a platform for definite growth.

The Mile End campus in addition offers a community where you can live, relax and study. There are four amazing cafés, two restaurants, a bar, a gym, and a bookshop on site. There’s plenty of green and outdoor space, which makes student life much more exciting!
