QMUL's School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) has risen in the 2019 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by subject 2019.
Computer Science at QMUL is ranked 100th in the world, making it the 8th most highly ranked in the UK. Engineering and Technology at QMUL, which includes Electronic Engineering, has a global ranking 101-125 making it, together with two others, 9th most highly ranked in the UK for this subject.
Professor Simon Lucas, Head of School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science welcomed the result “We’re delighted Computer Science and Electronic Engineering have shown a strong improvement in the rankings, reflecting the talent and hard work of so many staff and PhD students in EECS.”
Speaking about the achievement, Professor Tony Michael, Dean for Education (Faculty of Science & Engineering) said:
“Colleagues in EECS and the School of Engineering and Material Science have worked hard over the past few years to make real improvements to the student experience and taught programmes offered by the two Schools, so it is wonderful to see these team efforts reflected for 2019 in the rise up the THE listing of universities for Engineering and for Computer Science at QMUL. We look forward to working with the Schools to achieve further improvements that provide even better indicators of the quality of education and research undertaken in EECS and in SEMS. Sincere appreciation and congratulations to all who've contributed to this improvement in our national and international standing.”
Professor Wen Wang, Vice Principal for Science and Engineering remarked “I am happy at the news and look forward to seeing improvement in all subjects in science and engineering at Queen Mary”
