Brain in Pain II – The quantitative assessment of pain phenotypes in chronic fatigue syndrome (Bourke, White)

Centre for Psychiatry

Project Investigator:  Dr Julius Bourke

This is a pilot study assessing the feasibility of quantitative sensory testing as a means of quantifying the ‘pain phenotype’ of sufferers of chronic fatigue syndrome. 20 participants are to be recruited and screened for psychiatric diagnosis and psychophysical variables (such as anxiety and personality type) before undergoing quantitative sensory testing (QST), a means of determining the presence or absence of central sensitization.
