Malcolm Law qualified in medicine at the University of Adelaide, Australia. He is Emeritus Professor of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine at the Wolfson Institute of Preventive Medicine, Barts and The London.
His research interests cover the causes of coronary heart disease and stroke, and their prevention. His work with colleagues has focused on the importance of dietary salt, serum cholesterol and environmental tobacco smoke, as well as alcohol, red wine and the so called French paradox.
He contributed to a series of papers from the Wolfson Institute on blood pressure lowering drugs, statins and aspirin, together with the development of the Polypill, a formulation of generic products estimated to reduce heart disease and stroke by 80 per cent.
