Call for home blood pressure monitors to be available on prescription
Published:

Making home blood pressure monitors available on prescription for anyone diagnosed with high blood pressure would take pressure off the NHS and save many thousands of lives, according to the charity Blood Pressure UK, based at Queen Mary’s Wolfson Institute. The NHS already provides glucose monitors on prescription to patients living with diabetes, and the charity are calling on the government to introduce a similar approach for those most at risk of high blood pressure. Some 10 million deaths worldwide can be attributed to high blood pressure each year.
