Dr Juliette Brown

Juliette Brown is a Consultant Psychiatrist in Newham and has joined QMUL as an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer. She had an undergraduate degree in English and postgraduate degree in Gender before studying Medicine and training in Psychiatry. She has research interests in the effect of dementia on sense of self, the application of psychoanalytic theory to psychiatric practice, the impact of trauma on mental health and the experience of psychiatric care including obstacles to person-centred care in psychiatry. Most recently she contributed a chapter to a volume on psychodynamic approaches to the experience of dementia, Evans, S., Garner, J., and Darnley-Smith, R (ed.s) (2019) and in press is a chapter on obstacles to person centred care - Psychiatry, Power and the Person, in Person Centred Care: the New Professionalism - (1) Understanding the Philosophy, ed. Loughlin, M. (2020).
