The IONA study team:

Dr James Scales

Research Fellow

James is leading the IONA site testing. He will the first point of contact for IONA and will oversee all study visits. James has many years of experience in air pollution research, including supporting the CHILL study, which explored the impacts of London’s Ultra Low Emission Zone on children’s health. You can find out more about James’s research here: https://www.qmul.ac.uk/wiph/people/profiles/james-scales.html

Luke IONA

Dr Luke McIlvenna

Research Associate

Luke is supporting all aspects of the IONA study. You will meet him at the testing sites. Luke is an experienced scientist with broad range of knowledge and expertise in exercise physiology, cell biology, and molecular biology. Luke is passionate about how science can be used to identify mechanisms of health and disease in order to improve the quality of life for the current and future generations. You can find out more about Luke’s research here:
