A research technician from the William Harvey Research Institute at Queen Mary University of London has been shortlisted for a Papin Prize, the UK’s only award dedicated to celebrating technical excellence and innovation in higher education and research.

Oniz Suleyman from the Centre for Endocrinology has been recognised for playing a significant contribution to research.
Oniz has been nominated for her remarkable technical skills, excellent time management, and meticulous and reliable scientific discipline. She has contributed to key breakthroughs in each of the three projects on which she is working, and has helped produce data for the delivery of grant extensions, as well as submitting novel grant proposals.
Furthermore, Oniz has shown a particular talent in teaching students, from BSc to PhD, and she is quickly becoming a key figure in the department.
Nominations for the 2021 Papin Prizes are made by any member of the higher education community including students, staff, collaborators and alumni. Sixty-one technicians have been shortlisted nationally for the acclaimed Papin Prize across ten categories. The prestigious awards will be presented at the biannual Higher Education Technician Summit (HETS) 2021 on 10 November 2021 at the East Midlands Conference Centre, University of Nottingham.
