Appointment of Vice-Principal (Education)

Learning Environment

We have invested £105m on new facilities in the past five years, with the most recent capital projects being a new graduate centre and home for the School of Economics and Finance, and refurbishment of the Engineering and Maths buildings.

We are striving to ensure our teaching facilities and learning resources, both physical and technical, are fit for purpose and future-proof, while also engendering a sense of place on our campuses – for staff and students - through small touches that can build a feeling of belonging.

Recent developments, on top of larger capital programmes, include:

  • Extended library opening hours
  • A student-led programme to enhance social and learning spaces and facilities on campus to build community and belonging, and improve safety
  • Refurbished study spaces, including redevelopment of Arts One reception and the student HIVE
  • Ensuring students are closely involved in designing use of space in new capital projects
  • Developing initiatives to support commuter students
