You can also find out about the opportunities for working with local industry and businesses, studying abroad or creating your own start-up business. See for yourself the world-class facilities we have on our campus in Mile End. We look forward to seeing you there!
If you have any questions about arranging your visit, please don't hesitate to contact us on firstname.lastname@example.org or 020 7882 3064. We're more than happy to help with any queries you may have!
Please note that our Whitechapel campus, home to our School of Medicine and Dentistry, will not be open during the Open Day in October. However, subject talks for medicine, including graduate entry, and dentistry will take place at the Mile End campus. Academics, admissions staff, and current students from the School will also be present at the Subject Information Point at Mile End.
Do I have to book to attend an Open Day?
Yes. All visitors (the prospective student) should register for an open day in advance. The next open day will be held on Saturday 6 October 2018. We would also welcome visitors to attend the event on the day where they can register with us at the registration tent.
Will I receive confirmation of my booking?
Yes, you should receive a confirmation email within 24 hours of registering for an open day. If you do not receive a confirmation email please ensure that you have entered all your details correctly, in particular, your email address. Please also check your junk or spam folders in case they’ve ended up there. All communications regarding our open days, including programme and travel information, are sent via email.
Can I bring family and friends?
Yes, we encourage guests to attend with prospective students. However, we do ask that you let us know how many guests you intend to bring when completing the registration form. If you would like to amend the number of guests you are bringing with you then please email us email@example.com . Visitors attending as guests will not require a ticket but will need to be accompanied by the prospective student. Friends who are also considering QMUL should complete their own registration form rather than attend as someone’s guest so that we are better able to accommodate their needs and interests.
Do I need to check-in at the Open Day?
Yes, all visitors are required to register their attendance on the day. You will receive a confirmation email when you register online for the open day and this confirmation email will be resent to you in the final week leading up to the event. This email will include a QR code which will be used to check you in on the day. Please either bring a printed version of the code with you or a copy of it on your mobile phone or other devices. When you arrive on campus, please visit one of our check-in points and show them your event ticket. Once you’ve checked in you will receive a hard copy of the programme to help you get around and plan your day. If you haven’t received your QR code during the week prior to the open day, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Alternatively, you can also download our mobile app, where you will be able to check-in on the day once you have arrived on campus. There are also other useful features for the Open Day on the app. Search for 'QMUL' on your device's app store and download the app.
Can I cancel or change the date of my booking?
Yes, you can make amendments to your booking such as changing to an alternative day, changing guest numbers and cancelling your registration by using the dashboard (link in your confirmation email). If you have any problems with this, please contact email@example.com
If you can't attend an Open Day, you can still visit QMUL. We offer tours of our Mile End campus throughout the year. Tours are led by current QMUL students, last approximately one hour and take in most of the key university facilities, such as the Library, Students' Union and gym. Find out more or book your QMUL campus tour.
What time does the event start and finish?
We are open from 10am until 4pm. You are welcome to come and leave at any time of your choosing. A programme with a schedule of talks will be made available closer to the time and emailed to you to help you plan your day.
Will I receive a programme or other information before an Open Day?
Yes, we will send all registrants an electronic copy of the full programme via email in the final weeks leading up to the event. This will also be made available on our website and you will receive a hardcopy version when you attend the event at check-in points around the campus. Further information about the event including pre-arrival information, travel advice, and advice on making the most of your day will also be sent via email in the weeks leading up to the Open Day.
Alternatively, you can use our mobile app for the same information and an event planner to help plan your visit prior to arrival. Search for 'QMUL' on your device's app store and download the app.
How do I get to the University?
The Open Days take place across our Mile End campuses in the heart of east London, only minutes from central London. Our campus is just 5 minutes' walk from both Stepney Green and Mile End London Underground stations. Find out more about traveling to QMUL.
Can I park my car on campus?
Car parking for visitors is not offered on our campus and due to our central location we strongly advise visitors to use public transport when visiting us. Local parking restrictions also apply on weekdays and weekends. There are very limited blue badge holder spaces available. Please request your spot by completing the online form.
Do I need to book to attend a talk or taster session?
All our talks run on a first come-first seated basis so we encourage people to get to talk venues early. We usually run our talks a few times during the day but where talks may be oversubscribed, we might request that prospective students get priority over guests.
Can family and friends attend subject talks?
Yes, your guests are welcome to attend subject talks but please note that we cannot guarantee a place for them when there is a high demand for a particular talk as prospective students will be given priority. We do run most subject talks a few times during the day so there may be further opportunities if you miss out. In cases where guests are not able to attend a subject talk, there are many other alternative activities listed in the programme which they can attend whilst they wait, or they can put their feet up at one of our catering outlets!
How long are the talks at the Open Day?
All our subject and general talks last approximately 30 minutes. Tours, taster sessions and workshops may vary (please refer to the programme for more information).
I’m not decided on what subject or course I want to study. Can I attend more than one subject talk?
Yes, you can. We know many students will be considering a range of subjects so we want to encourage them to attend those talks to help them decide what they would ideally like to study. Our subject talks take place more than once during the day so it is possible to attend a number of different subject talks. However, please check the programme beforehand to ensure you plan your day to allow this to happen. If it’s not possible to attend talks for all the subjects you are interested in because of a clash, then staff and students will be available to answer questions throughout the day at the respective academic schools' welcome areas.
Can we view the student accommodation?
Yes, you will have the chance to view a selection of our accommodation options in the Student Village in Mile End during the Open Day. The halls of residence tours will be running all day and last approximately 20 minutes. We also offer virtual tours and videos of some of our other accommodation options including those at the Whitechapel Campus (for Medicine and Dentistry students). Medicine and Dentistry related course students can view the accommodation in Whitechapel during the June Open Days or Offer Holder events.
Do you offer tours of the campus?
Yes. Guided walking tours of the Mile End campus take place throughout the day, lasting between 45 minutes to one hour. We also offer a self-guided tour booklet which allows you to go on your own tour. This is available to pick up from the Campus Tours stand at the Student Experience Fair in the Octagon, Queens' Building.
Do you have disabled access?
Queen Mary is a campus-based university which makes it a particularly attractive choice for disabled students. Much of our Mile End campus, including all of the Student Village, has been built with good accessibility for disabled people. Access Guides for our campuses are available online which give you information about our buildings and access routes for wheelchair users. There are also limited blue badge holder car park spaces available during Open Days. Please let us know of any access needs by completing the online form.
