You voted: Sport!QMotion gym exercise bikes

So many of you were voting for all your favourite sports teams that you’re a part of at QMUL that we couldn’t possibly choose just one winner, so the overall winner here is sport! Whether you like spending your Wednesday afternoons on the pitch or practising your moves in the studio, there are plenty of ways for you to get fit and get involved. And, who can forget the annual Merger Cup, when Barts and The London students go head to head with Queen Mary students across a range of different sports?

Here are some of the teams and activities that you said you are involved with:

  • Badminton
  • Barbell Club
  • Breakdancing
  • Muay Thai
  • Netball (Barts and The London)
  • Rock Climbing
  • Swimming
  • Table Tennis
  • Ultimate Frisbee

What else do you get up to?

Societies

We couldn’t talk about your favourite extracurriculars without mentioning student societies! Joining a society is a great way to meet people with similar interests, develop new skills, make a difference and get involved in university life. There are over 200 different societies with loads of interesting things you can try out, and if you can't find what you're looking for, you can always contact the Union and enquire about setting up a new group.

Volunteering

Volunteering is also a popular way of spending your time outside of classes. QMSU Volunteering provides quality opportunities for students to volunteer in Tower Hamlets and across London. It's a great opportunity to enjoy new experiences and develop your skills while making a difference. You can choose from a range of different opportunities available with a variety of voluntary, charitable and not-for-profit organisations, so it’s easy to find something that suits your interests and that you can fit around your other commitments.
