Queen Mary University of London is one of the top universities in the world, ranked in the top 20 in the UK and top 5 in London (Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2018), with an international reputation for educating bright, inquiring students over the last 130 years.
We have a distinguished history, starting life in 1887 as the People's Palace, a philanthropic project that transformed lives by bringing education, recreation and culture to the working people of London's East End.
We have grown considerably since then, with several distinguished colleges of the University of London joining us, each with its own remarkable achievements and history. The internationally distinguised medical colleges of St Bartholomew's (founded in 1123), and the Royal London Hospitals (founded in 1740), now form our Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry. 44% of our students come from overseas, so you’ll feel very much at home (December 2016).
