Project Description

In order to understand radiation detectors and their applications, the PPRC does extensive work in detector simulation. This involves simulating the interactions of individual particles with detector material, using particle transport programmes such as Geant4 and FLUKA. Furthermore, the group has leading expertise in simulating complex radiation environments and modelling the damaging effects of radiation on detector systems.  This work feeds into the design of detectors for future colliders and commercial applications, so there are a range of possible projects.

Requirements

The project will involve actively working in the laboratories within SPA, including our clean rooms, and will require travel to external sites in order to perform field tests of equipment developed.
