Project Title: Sterile neutrino at future neutrino experiments and Super Kamiokande research and development.
Being in a joint-studentship with Durham University, my PhD will focus both on phenomenological and experimental aspects of neutrino physics.
With the Institute of Particle Physics Phenomenology (IPPP), I am investigating the potential of future neutrino experiments, like DUNE, in searches of Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) signatures, like for example decays of sterile neutrinos.
The most accredited neutrino mass models can be tested by this study, as well as other natural extensions of the Standard Model. With the Particle Physics Research Centre, I am developing an apparatus to measure the concentration of gadolinium in water with a continuous flow. The Super-Kamiokande experiment is entering a new phase in which gadolinium sulfate is dissolved in the water tank to increase the sensibility to neutrons. This will improve the study of neutrino interactions and make the detector sensitive to supernova relic neutrino signals.
