SKA Cosmology SWG Meeting

We will be hosting a Cosmology SWG meeting at Queen Mary, University of London, in December 2017.

3 August 2017

The aim of the meeting is to discuss various cosmology-relevant topics (e.g. recent changes to the SKA specifications), and to spend time working on collaborative projects within the focus groups (e.g. developing simulations, updating the Red Book, improving requirements documents).

Monday 18th December 2017 -  Friday 22nd December 2017

The meeting will be held in the G. O. Jones building at Queen Mary's Mile End campus in London, UK. We will have several rooms available, including a lecture theatre and a couple of smaller meeting rooms. We also hope to support remote participation through video-conferencing software.

The programme hasn't been finalised yet, but we expect it to mostly be taken up by general discussions and working meetings for the focus groups (i.e. relatively few talks). We have rooms booked for the full week, 18th - 22nd December, in case focus groups want to meet for longer, but the bulk of the meeting is expected to take place over the first three days (18th - 20th).

To help us gauge numbers of attendees, please register here by the 1st of August 2017. There is no registration fee. Please also register if you intend to participate remotely.

Queen Mary is close to central London, and is easily accessible by public transport from most London airports and train stations. The nearest Underground stations are Stepney Green (District/Hammersmith & City lines) and Mile End (District/Hammersmith & City/Central lines), both within easy walking distance of the campus.

The Queen Mary campus is readily accessible from most locations in Central and East London, so there's a wide range of hotels and hostels to choose from. Demand for hotels is likely to be quite high in the run-up to Christmas, so we suggest booking early.    There is also a limited amount of on-campus guest accommodation, at a rate of around £90/night. We will be block-booking a small number of these rooms. Please indicate on the registration form if you would be interested in booking one of these, and we will send further details at a later date. (N.B. We will allocate these rooms on the basis of greatest need if they are over-subscribed.)
