Perturbations in non-attractor models of inflation show very unconventional behaviour, even in the single field case. In particular, the comoving curvature perturbation does not freeze out on superhorizon scales, and Maldecena's consistency relation is violated. We show how these results can be understood via a symmetry-based approach, and formulate the non-attractor counterpart to Maldacena's consistency relation.
